In many school districts mental health coordinators are expected to review case logs from various service providers to understand, gauge a student’s mental health status and coordinate intervention with providers to address issues they find with a student. This role requires collection of data from the numerous service providers who engage with students, in a coherent, standardized and timely manner. Unfortunately in most cases the mental health coordinators become the central tracker for student referrals and other activities that have a workflow that passes from one provider to another in the district or in some cases to outside third party providers. This makes their job more laborious and increases their stress levels!
